Architecture (15 of 365)

Architecture I [2011]
I happened to be driving by the BAPS Mandir Temple the other day and stopped to take a couple of photos. I posted some pictures of this beautiful temple several years ago, and there's a good shot of the size of the temple here.

Architecture II [2011]

The estimated cost of the temple is $19 million. According to Wiki, more than 1,300 craftsmen and 900 volunteers worked on building the temple. More than 4,500 tons of Italian Carrara marble, 4,300 tons of Turkish limestone, and 3,500 tons of Indian pink sandstone were quarried and shipped to the craftsmen in India, and then shipped to the U.S.

Architecture III [2011]

As beautiful as the temple is on the exterior, the interior is stunning! Nearly every bit of the interior shrine is carved in some way. The detail is just amazing.
