366 Pictures: #49 Obstacle
This is the Castillo de San Felipe del Morro. It's enormous, beautiful, and very old. Building began in 1539, and it was completed 50 years later in 1589. It was taken once during battle by the English, who withdrew 6 weeks later. There are 6 levels and the walls are 18 feet thick. Another interesting tidbit, Steven Spielberg used the fort as a set for the film Amistad.

Okay, this is a series of photos which need an explanation. The chimpanzee exhibit at the Baltimore Zoo has a fairly young chimp. The afternoon we visited, this little chimp was determined to climb up a rope and climb across a limb. Unfortunately, he fell from the limb every single time. It was too cute. This series features his climb up the robe, maneuvering on the limb, and finally, the very tail end of his fall.

This is the Capella de Cristo. It's located at the edge of a cliff at the end of Calle Cristo (which is the street shown in the picture below - the chapel is behind me in this picture). The chapel was built in 1753 after a rider on horseback fell over the cliffs. There are conflicting stories about whether the person lived or died, and whether the chapel was built as a memorial to the miracle of his survival or in order to block the cliffs and prevent a similar accident in the future. We spoke to several people in the city about the chapel, and were told lots of different things. It's a beautiful little chapel. We didn't get to go inside because it's only open to the public on Tuesdays.

Many of the streets in Old San Juan are cobblestone. They're a different type of cobblestone than I was used to seeing. These are blue cobblestones made from the ballast of Spanish galleon and they're over 500 years old. They're gorgeous and they really add to the ambiance of Old San Juan. Below is a good example of this.

This is the Parques de la Palomas, or in English, the Pigeon Park. While it has a great few of the surrounding area, it puts you at great risk for being pooed on. Not for me. See that pigeon in the air, near those two ladies? It just flew off the shoulder of the lady in the blue top. I kid you not. As I said, not for me.

366 Pictures: #125 Take Away
Using this picture for the take away means I can't deceive anyone by saying I made this yummy chocolate masterpiece. Heh, like any of you all would have believed that anyway! This is a chocolate truffle cake that I picked up from Alon's Bakery and Cafe on the way home from a late lunch with a friend this afternoon.
It was wonderful!

366 Pictures: #364 Zig Zag
This is my Triggerpoint Massage Ball. It works by applying pressure to trigger points on the body. When used the correct way, the ball will cause the muscle to soften and relieve a spasm or soreness. You know you're using it right when there are equal parts relaxing pressure and pain. It feels really good! Anyway, the stitching on the ball has a bit of a zig zag pattern to it, which is why I chose it for this picture.

366 Pictures: #267 Mystery
At first, this may not seem to fit the mystery theme. However, just in case you don't recognize what this is, it's the Phantom's mask from "The Phantom of the Opera". The musical is based on a 1910 novel by Gaston Leroux which details the story of a mysterious "ghost" in the Paris Opera House. While the musical itself is wonderful, and has beautiful music, the book itself is wonderful, also.
This mask is also a music box which plays "Music of the Night".
