Today I made a Chocolate Fudge Cheesecake. This particular recipe calls for a pistachio crust. To do that, you need chopped pistachios. Unfortunately, my handy little chopper has grown legs and walked out of my house. I searched high and low for it today.
After chopping two cups worth of these suckers, I had the most fervent desire for my chopper! This took forever!
This is the nearly finished cheesecake. It just needs the final layer of batter and then to bake!

One of the most famous landmarks in Chicago, it's the Chicago Theater! It was the first movie palace in America and is called "the Wonder Theatre of the World." A point of pride for the city of Chicago.

I loved this installation at the Field Museum as soon as I saw it. The colors are great, obviously, but the quote from Charles Darwin along with the photos of the different forms of life, it's just really neat.
This one is just scary.
Both were part of the Field Museum's Evolving Planet exhibit.

I'm going opposite with this theme. I had intended to use a photo taken underground in a subway station. However, I was able to ride the "L" this weekend in Chicago. This is one of the photos I took while on the L as it made it's way out of town. The obvious building in the background is the Sears Tower (still currently the tallest building in North America). Notice the small bits of blurriness at the bottom of the picture? They're from small spots in the window of the train.

This photo may seem a bit odd at first, however, it does fit the theme. These are the lions of Tsavo. If you've seen the movie "The Ghost and the Darkness" then you're familiar with these lions. These are the actual lions, although they were repaired due to damage to the skins. The exhibit says the actual lions were much bigger. I had never heard of maneless lions, but evidently, it's one of the traits of lions from this region of Africa.
The story behind the lions is really scary, but very interesting, and the movie is really well done.
What's scary? These two lions aren't the largest man-eating lions. Check out this guy. He's also on display at the Field Museum.

This theme was another that was difficult for me to figure out. Saturday I went to Oak Park, a suburb of Chicago, where Frank Lloyd Wright used to live. As the inventor of the Prairie design of architecture, I thought it was a good fit for this theme. This is the home he lived in for several years, and his studio is on the left. We weren't allowed to take photos inside, but it was beautiful!

I had no clue what I was going do to for this theme. However, the Field Museum had an exhibit called "Inside Ancient Egypt." You walk through an Egyptian tomb that's in a pyramid!

One of the cool things about Chicago is all the public art throughout the city. This installation is called "Agora" and its located in Grant Park. The artist, Magdalena Abakanowicz, created 106 cast iron figures, each about 9 feet tall. They have no heads or arms and stand like they've just been frozen. Each individual figure has variations in its surface, kind of like tree bark. They were really fun to walk through.

Last Minute Fun . . .
I have to fly to Chicago for a client conference tomorrow, super early tomorrow morning. On Monday, I starting debating just staying through the weekend and exploring Chicago. I've never been to Chicago, save for flying through O'Hare or Midway on my way somewhere else. So, this weekend I will be freezing my butt off and photographing my way around the city!
I'm really excited! Prepare for an influx of 366 themes when I return! I'm gonna knock these guys out!

You wouldn't know from looking that it was super windy and chilly today. I actually have a bit on wind burn on my face. This rainbow appeared after a short rain shower. Said rain shower let loose while I was on top of an overlook taking photos. I hustled it back down the half-mile trail to Murphy in the pouring rain! Once I'd made sure my camera and lenses were all nice and dry, this rainbow appeared.

While Helen was here, we went to the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. One of the things they do there is shred worn currency. They hand out little bags of shredded money as souvenirs. This is probably the one time in my life that I'll have a large pile of money just sitting around. :lol:

The 1995 World Series Trophy the Braves received after defeating the Cleveland Indians. Underneath, is the baseball and bat that Hank Aaron used to hit his 715th career home run.
Both of these are housed at the Braves Museum. It chronicles the history of the Braves from Boston, to Milwaukee, and finally to Atlanta.

I noticed walking up to the overlook that it was getting pretty cloudy. It had been windy all day long, but hadn't actually rained where I'd been. However, looking at the line of clouds headed my way, I knew it was doubtful that I'd get down the hill without getting soaked.
